Itera has introduced a new “Search Trigger Rate” feature in its LLMO measurement platform, LLMO Cheki, designed to track how often generative AI systems perform live web searches when answering user queries. The feature covers eight AI engines, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and Copilot, allowing businesses to compare search behavior across platforms.
The capability addresses an emerging challenge in AI search optimization (LLMO/AIO): AI responses can be generated either from previously learned knowledge or from information retrieved through real-time web searches. These two mechanisms can produce different outcomes for companies seeking visibility in AI-generated answers.

LLMO Cheki records whether a web search occurred for each measured response and aggregates the results over time. It can also analyze the search queries generated by AI, providing insight into how systems break down users’ questions and what information they seek.
The development reflects a broader industry shift from traditional SEO toward measurable AI-search visibility, as businesses increasingly need to understand how AI engines discover, evaluate, and cite online information.
