Mitsubishi Electric and NanoQT Launch Quantum Link Trial

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and Nanofiber Quantum Technologies Inc. NanoQT has announced that they are starting a joint project. This project will focus on creating interconnection technologies for neutral-atom quantum computers. Neutral-atom quantum computers stand out for their scalability. This is thanks to high integration and flexible control of atomic setups with optical tweezers. Even with these strengths, the number of qubits in one system is still limited. This is mainly because there isn’t enough space to place the atoms. To make large-scale quantum computing practical, we need to connect multiple quantum computers. This will increase the total number of usable qubits. In this project, the two companies want to create a photonic quantum interface.
