JAXA-certified space startup Tenchijin has launched Tenchijin EO Market, a new online platform that allows users to search, purchase, and download satellite data from Japan’s ALOS-4 satellite. The platform is part of a project where Tenchijin was selected by JAXA to provide services using PALSAR-3 observation data, basically.
This launch tackles a long standing challenge in the satellite data sector, complex procurement processes have often restricted access to specialists and big scale projects, in practice. So by moving data selection, ordering, and payment online, Tenchijin wants to make satellite imagery more accessible not only for research, but also for infrastructure monitoring, environmental management, and disaster related applications.

The platform also comes with options for both experienced users and first time buyers, which kind of mirrors a wider push in the industry to reduce the friction for getting Earth observation data and to get it used more, across commercial as well as public domains.
