Graduate School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo and DENSO CORPORATION have jointly established a Social Cooperation Program, “Building Sustainable Production System Infrastructure with Advanced AI Technology,” starting April 1, 2025. This collaboration aims to create a new operational platform for next-generation production systems by enhancing Japan’s renowned lean manufacturing technology with digitalization and AI.
The initiative directly addresses critical challenges facing Japan’s manufacturing industry, including a declining labor force and the difficulty of transferring the “tacit knowledge” of skilled experts. By fully leveraging the vast amounts of data generated at production sites, this program aims to unlock significant opportunities for enhanced productivity and innovation.
