Wolters Kluwer has incorporated agency-based tax return preparation through CCH Axcess Tax, which uses Expert AI technology to automate the preparation of individual Form 1040 returns through accounting firms. The Expert AI technology helps in performing functions like document classification, data extraction, tax calculations, and exception detection.
Where other products automate one specific task, this system integrates multiple stages of tax preparation and draws connections between calculations and supporting data. It produces workpapers for accountants to review and displays incomplete data and potential problems.

The augmented system, built into the cloud-based CCH Axcess platform, employs firm data, tax content and permissions.
