apprhythm Co., Ltd. has been selected as the contractor for the “Bus Passenger Alighting Data Analysis Platform Construction Project” conducted by Tsuyama City through a public proposal process, and has commenced operations. Apprhythm will install the bus passenger survey product “B-RIO” on a total of 31 route buses and community buses “Gongo Bus” operated by Chutetsu Hokubu Bus Co., Ltd. to create an environment in which OD data can be continuously acquired. Apprhythm will provide comprehensive support, from acquiring analysis methods and creating policy proposals to explaining them to stakeholders, so that Tsuyama City and the bus operators can continuously utilize the acquired data for operational considerations (Project period: until January 31, 2027).
In the bus industry, where the shortage of drivers and other personnel is becoming increasingly serious, the challenge is to review routes and operations based on data and to create a system for accumulating that knowledge within the region in order to achieve sustainable operations with limited personnel and vehicles.
In response to these challenges, Tsuyama City solicited proposals for this project through a public bidding process, with the aim of “introducing a tool that can continuously acquire passenger boarding and alighting data from bus vehicles, and using the acquired data to continuously consider improvements to routes and operations, thereby establishing a process within the community that includes data organization and analysis, problem identification, policy planning, and explanations to stakeholders.” Apprhythm was selected as the contractor for this project, based on its proposal that looked ahead to the continuous acquisition of data using B-RIO and the establishment of data utilization within the community after acquisition.

Traditionally, obtaining passenger boarding and alighting data, which forms the basis for route reorganization, has been challenging due to the need to secure surveyors, schedule adjustments, and limitations on the number of surveys that can be conducted, making it difficult to comprehensively grasp data throughout the year. This project will establish a platform for continuously acquiring and visualizing OD data, creating an environment that allows for the understanding of changes in usage patterns that are difficult to capture with one-off surveys. Furthermore, it will support the creation of a system that enables Tsuyama City and bus operators to continue analysis and consideration, contributing to the realization of sustainable regional public transportation.
