Meltwater Japan has partnered with Hitachi Solutions East Japan to support the launch of “Incident Detection Service powered by Meltwater,” a service that uses public information from news websites and social media to identify potential risks that could affect corporate operations.
The service started on October 5 2026 uses Meltwater’s social listening platform called Meltwater Explore. It keeps looking at information that’s available to the public to find signs of problems, accidents, issues with quality, damage to reputation and problems with the supply chain. This helps businesses understand problems early and get ready to respond in the beginning.
Corporate risks have gotten more varied and harder to handle. These risks include accidents, natural disasters, problems with product quality issues with the supply chain problems, with business partners and reputation problems that come from media. At the time the information that might show these risks is spread out across news media, social platforms and other websites online. This makes it hard for companies to keep watching and find the signs.
Under the collaboration, Meltwater’s information collection and monitoring capabilities will be combined with Hitachi Solutions East Japan’s experience in social listening. The companies will establish monitoring environments tailored to each company’s business activities and risk profile, with the aim of enabling earlier identification of potential business risks and providing continued operational support.
The service for finding incidents that is run by Meltwater gathers and tells people about information that might change what a company does. Settings for watching things can be set up using the names of companies and products and also information about companies that are connected people who work with the company places on the map and words that are linked to accidents and big problems.
This way of working is meant to help companies find information faster from lots of outside data. Of just using normal ways of watching the company the service uses news and posts, from social media to show what is happening that might need looking at.

Meltwater collects and analyzes large volumes of external data from news sources and social media around the world. The company said its platform analyzes approximately 1.3 billion pieces of content per day, converting information from news, social media and AI-related sources into business intelligence. Its technology is used by more than 27,000 companies globally, while Meltwater Japan was established in 2009.
Hitachi Solutions East Japan has developed expertise in social listening and provides solutions based on its own technologies and Hitachi’s broader technical capabilities. Through the partnership, the companies intend to combine their respective strengths to support corporate risk management and faster decision-making.
Going forward, Meltwater plans to continue working with partner companies to combine specialized expertise and operational knowledge with its external-data collection and analysis platform. The companies aim to expand the use of external data beyond marketing and public relations into a wider range of corporate operations, including risk management and decision-making.
