Sapeet Co., Ltd. has announced that its AI-powered role-playing system, “SAPI Role-Playing,” has been adopted by Konica Minolta Japan, Inc. for its sales skills development program in the healthcare business. The system will be widely used by sales staff ranging from young recruits to veteran employees.
Background
In sales roles involving medical devices, not only is knowledge of the company’s products essential, but also advanced medical knowledge. Furthermore, strong interviewing skills to accurately understand doctors’ needs and the ability to quickly generate interest in the company’s products among busy medical professionals are indispensable.
However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, methods of visiting hospitals and conducting on-the-job training for sales representatives have changed, leading to an increasing disparity in the level of product understanding and interviewing skills among medical device sales representatives. Furthermore, while many companies are actively implementing input-based measures such as online study sessions and sharing role-playing videos, there is a gap between “understanding the content” and “actually being able to do it,” making the creation of opportunities for practical output an urgent necessity.

Against this backdrop, Konica Minolta Japan has decided to introduce “SAPI Role-Playing,” a role-playing system utilizing generative AI, in order to strengthen not only input-based education but also output-based education. By creating an environment where output-based training is possible at any time, the company aims to improve sales skills in identifying and proposing solutions to the latent needs of medical institutions, and to strengthen the entire sales organization.
