Liquid Inc., part of the ELEMENTS Group, has announced that its online identity verification service, LIQUID eKYC, will be used for account registration on the international money transfer platform operated by Remitly Japan.
Remitly offers digital international money transfer services across over 170 countries, so users can send money using several receiving methods, like cash pickup, bank deposits and mobile wallets. There’s also this integration with LIQUID eKYC, which helps customers finish the identity verification online, they just submit photos of their identification documents plus a selfie, all from their smartphones. In practice it feels pretty smooth, a kind of quick confirm thing, even if the steps look a bit different for each person.
The move helps Remitly Japan address regulatory requirements tied to account opening and user verification. In Japan, companies have to verify the customer identities, plus the My Number details, under rules meant for stopping the transfer of criminal proceeds. Keeping up with all those obligations can feel particularly tricky, for foreign organizations who are working in the market.

LIQUID eKYC is designed to support these compliance needs while simplifying onboarding. The service also provides implementation and operational support in English through a dedicated team for overseas businesses.
The platform supports multiple verification methods, including document authentication, IC chip reading, biometric matching, and public personal authentication. According to the company, LIQUID eKYC has maintained the top share of Japan’s eKYC market for seven consecutive years, while the broader ELEMENTS Group has processed more than 150 million identity verifications and secured over 700 contracts.
