Mitsubishi Electric and Semikron Danfoss have jointly developed a new standard package for power semiconductor modules aimed at industrial drive equipment and renewable energy systems. The package integrates a 3-level circuit and is designed to simplify inverter development while improving efficiency.
The new design combines elements of Mitsubishi Electric’s LV100-type package for high-power applications and Semikron Danfoss’s SEMITRANS20 package. By lining up terminal layouts and making sure compatibility works between products from both companies, the package lets customers’ kind of standardize inverter designs across different use cases.
The launch arrives at a time when industries are really pushing for more efficient power conversion technologies, basically to back decarbonization goals and energy-saving initiatives. In comparison to the usual 2-level circuits, the 3-level circuit architectures tend to deliver higher efficiency, and they can also trim the footprint of nearby components.

This package uses a 3-level T-type circuit, so manufacturers can build more compact, and frankly more efficient, inverter systems. It also includes a streamlined placement of main electrode and control terminals, which gives engineers more room to maneuver when designing industrial as well as renewable energy power systems.
As demand keeps rising for energy-efficient infrastructure, the change also underlines the industry’s move toward standardized, high-performance power semiconductor solutions, that simplify development while supporting next-generation power electronics.
