MC Digital Realty Co., Ltd. (MCDR) and Optage Co., Ltd. have agreed to collaborate on improving connectivity between data centers in Osaka’s Saito area and central Osaka. The partnership will combine MCDR’s KIX Campus with Optage’s Flex Dark Fiber Data Center Interconnection (DCI) service, giving customers additional network options and greater route redundancy.
The partnership is announced as data centers are being increasingly sought as generative AI and cloud services demand growth. The companies seek to meet the need for dependable, low-latency networks capable of resilient service. It also supports Japan’s efforts to distribute critical digital infrastructure beyond the Tokyo metropolitan area.
MCDR operates the KIX Campus across Ibaraki and Minoh in Osaka Prefecture, with a total IT power capacity of 74MW. Its four data centers support high-density IT environments. KIX13 holds DGX-Ready certification, while KIX15, with 24MW capacity, is scheduled to open in Q4 2028.

Optage will expand its fiber network between Saito and central Osaka to provide connections through separate routes. The service will cover KIX10, KIX11, KIX12, KIX13 and KIX15, with one route using an underground pathway.
The arrangement will also support redundant connectivity between Optage’s Sonezaki Data Center (OC1) and the KIX Campus. Through its All-Optical Connect (AOC) service, Optage can further connect OC1 with major data centers in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
The partnership is expected to support growing network requirements across Kansai and between Tokyo and Osaka.
