Computer Engineering & Consulting (CEC) has launched BizAxis IaaS, a domestic infrastructure-as-a-service platform designed to help Japanese organizations manage sensitive data and systems within Japan. The service became available on September 15, 2026, and is operated through CEC’s domestic data centers under Japanese laws and regulations.
The platform provides compute, storage and network infrastructure, with options for backup, operational monitoring and security. It supports hybrid configurations that can connect corporate networks and major public clouds, while CEC says its redundant infrastructure is designed to provide 99.99% availability.

A key element is its independence from VMware products. By using an alternative virtualization platform, BizAxis IaaS aims to reduce exposure to changes in licensing models and software pricing while providing more predictable operating costs through fixed monthly pricing.
The launch reflects growing demand in Japan for sovereign cloud infrastructure, driven by data protection requirements, geopolitical risks and the increasing use of sensitive corporate data in AI applications. For businesses, domestic control over data, infrastructure and access management can become increasingly important as AI adoption expands and organizations seek alternatives to dependence on specific overseas technology vendors.
