Ricoh Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation will begin a joint demonstration experiment aimed at realizing more creative workshops by introducing the “Emoco Sensor Unit,” a multi-monitoring device equipped with Mitsubishi Electric’s emotion estimation sensor “Emoco Eye,” into the workshop room of “RICOH BUSINESS INNOVATION LOUNGE TOKYO”, a value co-creation hub for realizing digital transformation (DX) utilizing the latest AI technology.
This initiative aims to realize next-generation workshops by quantifying the effectiveness of facilitation through data, using “emotion estimation data” that visualizes participants’ emotions, such as their level of concentration and drowsiness, in real time. By combining Ricoh’s workshop space with Mitsubishi Electric’s emotion estimation technology, we will visualize the psychological state of participants that was previously difficult to capture, contributing to more advanced facilitation. Through this demonstration experiment, both companies will explore the development of new services that will contribute to work style reform and improved organizational productivity.
Overview of the demonstration experiment
In recent years, with the increasing diversification of work styles and the spread of remote work, improving the quality of meetings and workshops has become crucial for increasing productivity. However, quantitatively understanding participants’ psychological states and levels of concentration using traditional methods has been difficult, making it challenging to objectively evaluate the effectiveness of facilitation.

Ricoh is promoting the use of DX and AI with the aim of realizing a society where workers are freed from simple tasks, can unleash their unique human creativity, and can gain a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. In the workshop room at RICOH BIL TOKYO, AI technology is used to classify spoken content in the space in real time in sticky note format and project it onto a large screen, supporting discussions and enabling the automatic generation of summary materials. In addition, by using an AI agent to automatically present related information on the screen, it expands participants’ thinking and supports the creation of diverse and rich ideas.
Mitsubishi Electric is working to create new value by utilizing data through its proprietary digital platform, “Serendie®”. In October 2025, it began offering the “Emoco Analysis Service”, which uses the “Emoco Sensor Unit” used in this demonstration to deliver “emotion estimation data” that visualizes people’s emotions such as concentration levels and drowsiness levels, as well as vital data such as body movement count and sleep levels, and environmental data such as temperature, humidity, and CO2 concentration. Furthermore, in order to develop new services, Mitsubishi Electric is conducting internal demonstrations at its co-creation space, “Serendie Street Yokohama,” regarding the acquisition and utilization of “emotion estimation data” in office work.
Objectives and initiatives:
Nine “Emoco Sensor Units” will be installed in the workshop room to measure the level of concentration of workshop participants and the level of activity in the environment in real time. This will allow us to quantify the correlation between facilitation and the psychological state of participants, and create a system in which facilitators can use this data to improve their methods. Throughout the demonstration period, we will verify the accuracy of data acquisition regarding emotional changes due to differences in facilitation, and aim to establish a next-generation workshop and commercialize the service based on the results of the demonstration.
