At GitHub Universe 2025, GitHub launched Agent HQ. This new AI platform combines and simplifies development workflows. Developers can control AI agents using one interface on the platform. This reduces fragmentation in today’s AI development tools. Nearly 80% of new developers use GitHub Copilot. So, Agent HQ boosts its features by adding AI agents to common GitHub tools like Git, pull requests, and issues.
Agent HQ presents Mission Control. It’s a central hub to manage AI tasks. You can use it across GitHub, Visual Studio Code (VS Code), mobile, and command-line interfaces. In VS Code, the new Plan Mode helps developers map out project steps. This reduces errors and boosts productivity. The Custom Agent feature allows flexible customization of Copilot’s behavior through a source-controlled AGENTS.md file, giving teams greater control over coding standards.

A new control plane adds centralized management for AI access and policy enforcement. With Agent HQ, GitHub aims to redefine collaborative software creation, empowering developers and organizations to build securely, efficiently, and intelligently.
