Clavance Co., Ltd. and the iCD Association have signed a “Memorandum of Understanding Regarding the Utilization and Collaboration of the FDE Evaluation System” (Date of signing: October 15, 2026) to develop and utilize a system for evaluating the capabilities of IT engineers required in the age of AI.
Based on this memorandum of understanding, the iCD Association will adopt the Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) evaluation system proposed by Cravance as one of the official reference systems for the development and utilization of iCD (iCompetency Dictionary), in addition to external systems such as ITSS (IT Skill Standard), DSS (Digital Skill Standard), and SFIA (an international skills framework originating in the UK).
Going forward, both parties will work to establish a correspondence between the abilities and measurement factors required of FDE personnel and the tasks and skills on iCD, and enable referencing through the “FDE View (tentative name).”
This will allow us to systematically identify abilities that are becoming increasingly important in the AI era, such as problem formulation skills, AI utilization skills, and customer consensus building skills, and to utilize this information for visualizing, evaluating, and developing the capabilities of IT personnel.
The evolution of generative AI and AI agents is bringing about a major transformation in the software development and IT service delivery processes.

As AI advances in code generation, testing, and design support, IT engineers are increasingly required to possess not only traditional technical knowledge and implementation skills, but also the ability to understand customer and business challenges, leverage AI to build solutions, and translate those solutions into tangible results.
Traditional skills and experience data often fail to adequately capture these abilities, which presents a challenge.
Based on these changes, Cravance has proposed an FDE evaluation system that comprehensively assesses the skills required of engineers in the AI era.
This time, by promoting collaboration with iCD, a task and skill framework for IT personnel, we aim to link the abilities required of FDE personnel with existing task and skill frameworks, and to develop a framework that is easy to refer to and utilize in companies and in personnel training settings.
