Kioxia Corporation has now rolled out the new KIOXIA XG10 Series SSDs for PC OEMs, aiming at those higher-performance boxes that are often assembled for AI tasks, playing games and doing content work, plus more professional use cases too. The new lineup follows the older XG8 generation, but it kind of fully moves over into PCIe 5.0 storage lanes, which is honestly where a lot of the ‘premium’ PC gear is heading these days.
Kioxia says the XG10 Series can reach sequential reads up to 14,000 MB/s and writes up to 12,000 MB/s. The company is also talking up noticeable gains in random read, and random write behavior versus the prior model. Put another way it’s about taking on bigger AI models, heavier timeline editing, faster game launches, and more demanding background multitasking, without the SSD or storage layer turning into the limiting factor.
As for the hardware details, the drives are offered from 512GB all the way to 4TB and they stick with the normal M.2 2280 form factor. キオキシア also added self-encrypting drive capability, using TCG Opal based support in line with those standards.
