NEC Corporation has, pretty much officially, wrapped up its acquisition of CSG Systems International, pulling the U.S. based telecom software firm into its expanding digital business via Netcracker Technology. Netcracker will now handle the operations and integration side of the business, while NEC stays involved through strategy and global support.
The deal is really about one thing. Telecom companies are trying to modernize faster without ripping apart the systems they already run on. That is where this combination starts making sense. CSG comes in with strong customer experience, payments, and business support systems. Netcracker already has deep roots in OSS, BSS, automation, and cloud-native telecom platforms. Put together, they cover a much larger part of the telecom operations stack.
Andrew Feinberg will lead the combined organization as Chairman and CEO. The focus now shifts toward building a more unified AI-driven platform that can help telecom and digital service providers automate operations, manage customer lifecycles better, and support newer digital business models without adding more complexity into the mix.

This also lines up with a much bigger telecom industry shift right now. Operators are tired of fragmented systems and too many vendors. Everyone is pushing toward fewer platforms, tighter AI integration, and infrastructure that can scale without constantly needing heavy manual intervention.
