Comture Corporation has launched an “RPA Assessment Service” that will contribute to the advancement of DX and the promotion of AI utilization. For companies aiming for AX (AI Transformation) as the next stage after DX, the development of a data infrastructure is an urgent task. On the other hand, RPA that is dispersed and dependent on individuals in each department—so-called “rogue RPA”—often leads to the black boxing of operations and data fragmentation, and in many cases becomes an obstacle to the success of AX. This service systematically evaluates the usage status of RPA from the perspectives of operations, data, and operations, and presents concrete response policies including improvement and redesign. It is an “RPA health check service” that utilizes Comture‘s know-how to strengthen support for AX.
In recent years, while the adoption of RPA has rapidly progressed with the aim of improving business efficiency in companies, the following challenges have become apparent.
◎RPA is proliferating in departmental units, and the number of RPAs outside of management is increasing.
◎Increased risk of black boxing and operational downtime due to RPA becoming dependent on individual users.
◎RPA implementation is limited to “replacement” rather than business process improvement, and does not lead to digital transformation (DX).

Companies that have actively pursued RPA implementation are often the ones facing the risks of unregulated RPA (so-called “rogue RPA”). Proceeding with DX and AI utilization without visualizing the reality of unregulated RPA can lead to systemization while harboring inefficiencies and risks, potentially resulting in project failure. Therefore, evaluating and organizing the effectiveness of RPA is a crucial key to the success or failure of DX and AI utilization.
Furthermore, listed companies are required to visualize and control business processes from the perspective of internal controls (J-SOX) and IT governance. If RPA created and operated by individual employees is not managed, it may pose challenges in terms of audit compliance and business continuity. In addition, in local governments, RPA operation that relies on specific employees can also become a management challenge, so it is necessary to understand the actual usage in advance and consider necessary countermeasures.
