ElevationSpace Inc., a company that develops infrastructure services including transportation from space to Earth, centered on Japan’s world-class re-entry technology for small satellites, has raised a record-breaking 6.4 billion yen in funding through a third-party allocation of shares in its Series B round.
This brings the total amount raised since the company’s founding to 10.1 billion yen, demonstrating the growing attention on the space transportation market and the low Earth orbit services market.
Background of Funding
Based on our expertise in Japan’s unique small-scale lift guidance technology, which is essential for the return of people and objects from the International Space Station to Earth, we are working on the development of the Space Environment Utilization and Recovery Platform “ELS-R” and the Small-Scale High-Frequency Transportation Service “ELS-RS” from manned low-Earth orbit bases to Earth. Currently, the first privately developed re-entry satellite for ELS-R, “Aoba,” has completed its Detailed Design Review (CDR) and is proceeding with the assembly of the flight model.

Since securing pre-Series B funding, we have been vigorously pursuing global partnerships, including collaborations with space station development company Axiom Space on high-frequency atmospheric re-entry and recovery services, and with Redwire on plans to integrate their biopharmaceutical technology into our platform. We have also expanded our organization to over 80 people, strengthening our development capabilities.
Our organization has made steady and challenging progress in terms of technology, organizational structure, and business development towards realizing next-generation space infrastructure, specifically transportation services from space to Earth and space environment utilization services. This includes being selected for the Space Strategy Fund’s “High-Frequency Material Recovery System Technology” project, participating as a collaborating organization in “Basic Technologies for Ensuring Safety in Manned Space Transportation Systems,” and announcing inter-theme collaboration with the Japan Low Earth Orbit Association to establish low Earth orbit activity infrastructure in the post-ISS era.
The funds raised will be used for the development and operation of our space-to-Earth transportation services and space environment utilization services, as well as for global expansion, steadily advancing the further development of our business.
