Satoshi Okamoto has taken on the role of Head of Enterprise Marketing Japan at OpenAI, as the artificial intelligence company continues to develop its presence in Japan’s enterprise market.
The appointment comes as Japanese businesses increasingly explore how generative AI can be integrated into daily operations, customer engagement and broader digital transformation initiatives. OpenAI has been expanding its engagement with Japanese organizations since establishing its Tokyo office in 2024, with a focus on supporting local businesses and adapting its technology to the needs of the market.
Enterprise marketing plays an important role in helping businesses understand AI capabilities, evaluate potential applications and assess how AI tools fit into existing workflows. At OpenAI, enterprise marketing in Japan involves developing local marketing programs, coordinating with sales and partnerships teams, and communicating the relevance of its products to Japanese business audiences.
OpenAI’s enterprise marketing strategy for Japan also encompasses executive events, webinars, partner initiatives, account-based marketing and localized content. These activities are intended to help organizations understand how AI can be applied to business challenges while addressing concerns around trust, governance and adoption.

The appointment comes amid a broader shift in enterprise AI adoption. Companies are moving beyond initial experimentation and exploring how AI can support knowledge work, software development, customer service, research and business-process automation. As adoption grows, localized communication and engagement are increasingly important in helping organizations assess the technology’s practical uses.
OpenAI has also pursued partnerships in Japan to support business adoption. In February 2026, dentsu Japan announced a strategic collaboration with OpenAI focused on marketing transformation, including the use of ChatGPT Enterprise and AI-enabled marketing solutions.
Okamoto’s new role places him within this expanding enterprise AI market, with responsibility for enterprise marketing in Japan as businesses continue to evaluate and deploy AI technologies.
