READYFOR Inc. and Ashiya City have entered into a comprehensive partnership to strengthen legacy giving in the city. The initiative comes as interest in bequest donations grows amid Japan’s declining birthrate, aging population and rise in single-person households.
Through the partnership, READYFOR’s Legacy Donation Support Service will help Ashiya City handle legacy donations, including real estate bequests and universal bequests. The companies will also put effort into boosting awareness among residents and other stakeholders, so it’ll be a bit easier for more people to think about leaving their assets to help local causes and the next generations.
The partnership will provide consultation services and connect residents and other interested parties with relevant experts. For non-cash assets such as real estate, which can be difficult for local governments to accept, READYFOR will work with partner foundations to support liquidation and asset management, creating a smoother donation process.

For Ashiya City, the arrangement expands its fundraising options without requiring additional full-time staff with specialized knowledge of legacy giving. For potential donors, READYFOR can present Ashiya City as a bequest option and provide consultations without charging a consultation fee.
READYFOR has operated its Legacy Donation Support Service since April 2021, supporting NPOs, universities and medical institutions with legacy donation acceptance while also offering consultations to individuals considering bequests or lifetime donations. The partnership extends that model into local government and community development.
