Sista, the company behind the AI platform MichiCare for nursing care facilities, has raised funding from the Hekishin Startup Investment Limited Partnership, known as the Hekishin AOMI Fund. The funding is being raised with a planned business partnership with Hekikai Shinkin Bank, rather than as a standalone capital investment.
The funds will be used for product development, recruitment and employee training. Through the planned partnership, Sista also aims to expand MichiCare among nursing care providers in Aichi Prefecture and other regions. Hekikai Shinkin Bank’s local business network and business matching capabilities are expected to support these efforts.
The move comes while Japan’s aging population and that declining birthrate keep adding pressure to the nursing care sector. Facilities are running into staff shortages, and, also the workloads are growing, at the same time. But lots of day to day operational tasks still lean on manual processes, which feels a bit outdated. Shift planning and coordinating visit routes are among the areas creating additional pressure.

MichiCare, officially launched on May 15, 2026, uses proprietary AI to automatically create and modify complex nursing care shift schedules. It also helps optimize user information, care plans and facility visit routes. So, it seems the platform is made to boost productivity and operational efficiency, while also enabling higher occupancy and revenue.
In the collaboration the companies are trying to connect local care providers with AI based tools, that help with workforce issues and those everyday productivity challenges.
