So, Soracom has launched this MVNE offering, it kind of gives mobile network operators and MVNOs a way in to its cloud-native mobile core setup. This includes the network components as well, like HSS, PGW, UPF, SMSC, and those IMS core services too, you know.
Instead of building and maintaining expensive carrier-grade infrastructure, operators can run services on Soracom’s software-based core deployed on public cloud infrastructure. The company says this can lower deployment costs, speed up expansion into new markets, and give operators more flexibility in designing services and pricing models.
The model has already been tested through Misora Connect in Japan, which runs on Soracom’s platform today.

This move kind of mirrors a wider telecom trend, where the network functions are slowly drifting away from that dedicated hardware and into cloud native software defined infrastructure, you know, more or less.
