Micronity Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that, effective July 2026, Akihiro Kadohata, former AWS Senior Business Development Manager, author of “AWS Cost Optimization Guidebook” (KADOKAWA), and translator of “Cloud FinOps 2nd Edition” (O’Reilly Japan), has been appointed as a technical advisor for its government cloud FinOps tool “srest”. This will accelerate the evolution of “srest” into a service that provides comprehensive support from “visualization” to “optimization” by combining the data accumulated through supporting cloud cost visualization for approximately 400 local governments nationwide with Mr. Kadohata’s expertise in cost optimization.
Local government core business systems have been migrated to the government cloud, with a deadline of the end of March 2026 in principle. However, operational costs after the migration are expected to increase, and the Digital Agency estimates that the operational costs for systems migrated by the end of fiscal year 2026 will increase from approximately 140 billion yen before the migration to approximately 250 billion yen . Against this backdrop, the Digital Agency has published a “Continuous Operational Cost Optimization (FinOps) Guide” for government cloud users, outlining methods for visualizing and analyzing cloud usage fees and continuously optimizing them. The shift from “visualization” to “optimization” of costs is becoming a new theme in government cloud.

To actually implement this optimization, specialized knowledge in cloud design and operation is essential. “srest” has so far collaborated with operational support providers to help build FinOps promotion platforms for approximately 400 local governments. To further strengthen its efforts from visualization to optimization, we have welcomed Akihiro Kadohata, an expert in cloud cost optimization, as an advisor.
