Gen, a global leader in digital security and privacy, announced the launch of Avast Fraud Guardian, a new AI-powered service from its Avast brand. The service is integrated into Avast Free Antivirus, the award-winning* free antivirus software, and is available to anyone worldwide, free of charge.
In recent years, cybercriminals have increasingly used AI to create more convincing fraud attacks. This launch marks a major step towards democratizing AI-based fraud prevention. The premium version, Avast Fraud Guardian Pro, is also now included in Avast Premium Security, providing enhanced AI defense, especially against email fraud.
“Fraud today is no longer crude and simple; it’s highly sophisticated and personalized using AI ,” said Lena Elias, Chief Product Officer at Gen.

“With data breaches and personal information leaks accelerating, anyone can become a victim of fraud, so it’s more important than ever to deliver powerful AI fraud protection to everyone, everywhere. We’re committed to protecting our users’ digital and financial safety with world-class fraud protection.”
According to the Gen Threat Report for Q1 2025, the number of personal information breaches jumped more than 186% from January to March, with passwords, email addresses, credit card information and more exposed. During the same period, reports of phishing scams also increased 466% compared to the previous quarter, making up nearly one-third of all scams observed by Gen.
As data leaks increase, attackers are increasingly using the leaked information to launch targeted, highly personalized fraud campaigns. Scam Guardian leverages scam post information collected by Gen Threat Labs to not only detect malicious URLs, but also use AI to analyze the context and language contained in online content to more accurately identify signs of malicious intent. It also visualizes and neutralizes threats hidden in website code, helping to create an environment where users can browse and shop online with peace of mind.
