Freee Inc. has launched a custom SCIM integration function for its SaaS and device management tool “freee IT Management,” which enables the automatic linking of employee ID information such as employee numbers and email addresses. This is the first such function offered by a SaaS management tool in Japan.
The increasing number of SaaS applications is limiting account management capabilities and increasing security risks.
As companies promote digital transformation (DX) and improve operational efficiency, the number of SaaS products used internally is increasing year by year. In particular, the adoption of AI tools has been progressing rapidly recently, and “freee IT Management” is also working to support various AI tools. While there is a growing demand for a centralized management tool for SaaS accounts and AI accounts, it is difficult for management tools to individually support the APIs of all SaaS products. This has left the challenge that “industry-specific SaaS products and overseas SaaS products cannot be integrated, and ultimately account management has to be done manually.”
Manually creating, modifying, and deleting accounts when employees join, transfer, or leave the company places a significant burden on the IT department. Furthermore, failing to delete accounts of former employees directly leads to serious security risks such as the leakage of confidential information and unauthorized access. This is a major challenge for companies, as it results in “shadow accounts”—accounts of former employees remaining unattended and beyond the administrator’s oversight. Moreover, it leads to wasted costs, such as continuing to pay for unused accounts.

To address these challenges, “freee IT Management” has become the first SaaS management tool in Japan to offer a new custom SCIM integration function. This allows for the automation of account synchronization, issuance, modification, and deletion for products that do not have standard support in “freee IT Management,” as long as the product has an open SCIM API. By automating SaaS account management, it significantly reduces manual workload and security risks, supporting the construction of a robust IT governance environment.
