Akuru Co., Ltd., a provider of solutions to prevent fraudulent use of credit card payments and other services, has partnered with Value Design Co., Ltd., which operates cashless service businesses, to begin providing the fraud detection and authentication system “ASUKA” to e-commerce businesses using credit card charging with Value Design’s proprietary Pay issuance service “Value Card” in order to eliminate fraudulent use of credit cards.
Although the mandatory implementation of EMV 3-D Secure in April 2025 has strengthened fraud prevention measures across the industry, according to the Japan Credit Association, the amount of damage caused by stolen credit card numbers in 2025 is expected to reach 47.5 billion yen, remaining at a high level.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will publish the “Credit Card Security Guidelines” in March 2026, requesting card merchants operating e-commerce sites to implement appropriate security measures.
