Public Technologies Inc., which develops and operates the super app “Pubtech” for local governments and the AI-based administrative support tool “Pubtech AI Administration,” has launched the “Pubtech AI Business,” a B2B business that goes deep into the workplace and implements AI solutions into on-site workflows. Focusing on the regional small and medium-sized enterprises that support Japan, the company offers comprehensive support, from on-site issue identification, solution proposals, software development, and implementation support/continuous improvement, unlike the approach of traditional consultants or system integrators. By using AI to structure the “tacit knowledge” that has become internal company workflows, the Company contributes to improving regional productivity from the front lines.
Background and Issues
Japan’s corporate structure is dominated by small and medium-sized enterprises, accounting for approximately 99.7% of the total number of companies. They also play a central role in generating approximately 70% of domestic employment and approximately 53% of the added value of the entire economy. As the data shows, it is small and medium-sized enterprises that support Japan’s industries and local communities, and improving productivity is essential to the dynamism of regional economies.
Japanese industry has made a name for itself around the world with its strength in precision operations, based on the expertise and skills honed on-site. However, much of this work is complex and highly dependent on individual skills, making it difficult to advance digital transformation that originates in the workplace. The current situation is that tacit knowledge in the workplace has become a black box, with issues such as aging infrastructure systems, delays in standardization and automation, and the difficulty of passing on know-how from veterans, creating a bottleneck in productivity.
