CrowdStrike announced Real-Time Supply Chain Attack Protection, a new innovation for its Falcon platform , which stops malicious open-source packages at the endpoint before the code embedded in them can be executed.
AI has changed the way software is built. Now, coding agents use open-source packages obtained from public registries to assemble applications at machine speeds that exceed the speed at which humans can process the information. A compromised package executes code at the endpoint the moment it is installed. The endpoint is the point of execution, and also where Falcon sensors are already operating. CrowdStrike stops malicious packages in real time before that code can be executed.
Michael Sentonas, President of CrowdStrike, stated the following:
