Uber Japan Co., Ltd. announced on Friday, July 31, 2026, that it has reached an agreement with Toto Jidosha Group, one of the leading taxi companies in the Tokyo metropolitan area, to introduce its taxi dispatch service “Uber Taxi”. The service is scheduled to begin operation around November 2026.
Uber Taxi, which launched its service in Tokyo in July 2020, has partnered with numerous taxi companies in the city. Today, in Tokyo, taxis arrive within an average of 4 minutes of a ride request, and it is used by many customers as a fast and reliable means of transportation.
Going forward, as more than 1,800 taxis operated by Toto Jidosha become available for Uber Taxi dispatch, we will further strengthen our dispatch capacity in Tokyo, leading to reduced waiting times for customers and improved matching rates.
