Silicon Motion has introduced MonTitan, an SSD reference design kit aimed at the changing storage demands of agent-based AI infrastructure. Announced at FMS 2026, the platform uses next-generation PerformaShape technology to deliver more predictable quality of service under fluctuating workloads. As AI agents continuously infer, maintain context, and interact with external tools, data centers face growing demands for throughput, consistent latency, and storage durability, particularly as KV caches expand. MonTitan is designed to let enterprise SSDs act as a persistent memory layer for KV cache offloads and AI agents. The technology is integrated into Silicon Motion’s PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 6.0 enterprise controllers, giving SSD makers a foundation for developing AI-focused storage systems.
