Karil Inc., operator of Japan’s largest library search site, has launched the beta version of ‘Karil for AI,’ enabling users to search library collections nationwide via AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT. The service, using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) standard, allows seamless access without installing additional apps.
Calil for AI supports advanced searches by title, author, publisher, year, and classification, and can autonomously refine queries across libraries. It helps users quickly find books, plan exhibitions, evaluate collections, and prepare lessons. Currently covering 7,400 libraries, including 98% of public libraries, the beta is free with usage limits to ensure fairness.
