Google’s artificial intelligence (AI) search function, ‘AI Mode,’ will begin service in Korea on the 9th.
Google Korea announced through its official blog that the AI mode tab will be applied sequentially to the Google search bar over the next few days starting today.
After only four months since the official launch of AI mode in the US in May, this update adds support for new languages including Korean, Hindi, Japanese, and Portuguese.
AI mode is based on a customized version of ‘Gemini 2.5’ and understands and answers questions more precisely than existing search.
Google’s most powerful AI search feature, with added inference and multimodal capabilities, can handle follow-up questions and provide web links, allowing you to answer long, complex, or nuanced questions that previously required multiple searches in one go.

In fact, early testers of AI mode reported entering queries two to three times longer than traditional search terms, demonstrating that AI mode is effectively addressing questions that traditional search engines struggled with. They explained that it’s particularly effective for questions requiring internet search or difficult tasks, such as comparing products, planning trips, and complex user guides.
When asked a question with multiple conditions, such as “I’m preparing for a triathlon next May. What do I need to know before I start training?”, AI mode internally breaks down the question into several subtopics and uses “query fan-out” technology to explore search results deep and wide, executing multiple search queries simultaneously.
Through this, you will be able to receive not only web content, but also real-time data such as knowledge graphs, the latest information, and shopping data.
It also supports multimodal functionality, allowing you to ask questions not only via text, but also via voice and photos. To ask a voice question, simply press the microphone icon in the search bar in AI mode and speak your question. Google Lens functionality has also been integrated into AI mode.
グーグル stated that “this launch of AI Mode builds on our existing quality and ranking systems, while applying new approaches to improve accuracy.” This means that while AI-powered responses will be offered first when possible, if they aren’t reliable enough, they will fall back to showing traditional web search results.
He added, “As with any early-stage AI product, it won’t always be perfect, but we promise continuous improvement.”
