三菱重工業 (MHI) teamed up with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Asia Pacific and Mitsubishi Corporation. The first new train sets for Singapore’s Sengkang-Punggol Light Rail Transit (LRT) system are here. This delivery starts a project by the Land Transport Authority (LTA). It plans to boost transport capacity in Singapore’s northeast. This will help support the needs of a growing population.
Two train sets have entered commercial service as of July 15, with a total of 25 scheduled for delivery by 2028. The new trains look like the old ones, but they have important tech upgrades. This includes a combined signaling system. One set serves two cars to optimize equipment. Also, there’s a touch-panel interface in the driver’s cab for controlling devices.

A big improvement is the new real-time data logging system. It captures operational data, which helps with maintenance efficiency and speeds up troubleshooting. This matches wider industry trends. These trends focus on smart, data-driven urban mobility solutions. They aim to improve reliability and scalability in public transit systems.
