SoftBank Corp. and MODE, Inc., which develops the solution-type IoT platform “BizStack,” have entered into a capital and business alliance agreement aimed at improving data-driven decision-making in construction and manufacturing sites through the use of generative AI (artificial intelligence) and IoT (Internet of Things).
This partnership will combine MODE’s field data integration and structuring technology with SoftBank’s generative AI, cloud services, communication networks, and corporate customer base to accelerate the introduction and establishment of data utilization in field operations, including in the construction and manufacturing sectors.
The adoption of generative AI by companies is progressing rapidly. The value of the infrastructure for integrating data from construction and manufacturing sites increases with continuous data accumulation, and there is a growing need for data processing and management in Japan, particularly among infrastructure operators. On the other hand, in field operations, the use of generative AI is limited to office work due to the dispersion and siloing of data acquired from equipment and production lines*, challenges in linking and integrating with existing systems, and operational issues, and has not yet been fully implemented in the field. Furthermore, the data accumulated daily in the field is a crucial asset that directly impacts a company’s management decisions, and there is a need to secure data sovereignty (data sovereignty) to properly manage and protect a company’s data, as well as to develop the environment to achieve this. Against this backdrop, SoftBank and MODE have entered into a capital and business alliance with the aim of strengthening long-term and strategic collaboration through the use of generative AI and IoT.

MODE’s “BizStack” is a solution-type IoT platform that centralizes and integrates on-site data to streamline operations. It employs MODE‘s unique data model, which treats managed objects such as equipment and locations as “entities,” structuring, organizing, and integrating data obtained from the real world. This allows for data utilization in line with on-site workflows. Furthermore, users can easily access necessary information simply by asking questions via chat from their smartphones or tablets.
This partnership will combine SoftBank‘s generative AI, cloud services with data sovereignty, communication networks, and corporate customer base, based on “BizStack,” to support the implementation of “BizStack,” build a secure data management and operation environment in Japan, and enhance the functionality of “BizStack” with generative AI. The goal is to create generative AI models that can actually be used in construction and manufacturing sites.
