Renesas Electronics Corporation has completed its acquisition of Irida Labs as the company pushes further into embedded Vision AI and edge AI systems.
Irida Labs develops software for AI based visual perception systems used in areas like robotics, industrial automation, healthcare, agriculture, IoT, and smart city infrastructure. The technology focuses on machine vision and real time image analysis running directly on embedded devices.
The acquisition also connects with Renesas 365, the cloud based development platform Renesas launched earlier in 2026. Irida Labs’ Vision AI software and development tools are expected to become part of that environment as Renesas tries to build a more connected system around hardware, software, and deployment tools.

The two companies were already working together before the acquisition. Their earlier projects combined Irida Labs’ PerCV.ai software with Renesas RA microcontrollers and RZ microprocessors.
According to Renesas, bringing the software in house should help reduce deployment complexity while improving power efficiency and integration speed for edge AI systems handling real time visual processing workloads.
