MOTA Inc. has entered into a service partnership with cars Inc., the company behind the global car life tech service ‘cars,’ for its ‘cars MARKET’ vehicle selling service. The partnership is aimed at giving customers more convenient ways to sell their cars at a price they are comfortable with.
cars MARKET uses AI to assess a vehicle’s market value and allows customers to work with a cars agent to pursue a sale at their preferred price. The service reports an average selling price of more than 300,000 yen above market value, an 89% success rate and an average completion time of 14 days.
Under the new partnership, customers who cannot sell their vehicle through cars MARKET can use MOTA Car Buying to compare estimated valuations from up to 20 car buying companies online. The service uses a pre-appraisal system to reduce the need for repeated contact from multiple buyers.
MOTA Car Buying narrows the initial options to the three companies offering the highest valuations, while customers can request additional companies from the fourth position onward. Estimated quotes from up to 20 companies can be compared online within as little as three hours, before the vehicle is physically shown.

The service also offers MOTA’s ‘Anshin Settlement’ escrow system. MOTA mediates the payment, with funds transferred to the seller’s designated account within a minimum of two business days after vehicle delivery.
More than 100,000 people currently use the service each month. It also ranked first overall in a GMO Research & AI customer satisfaction survey for car valuation services.
MOTA said it will continue working with automotive industry partners to improve convenience and provide a safer, more secure car selling experience.
