OPTiM’s “OPTiM AI Hospital” is an AI-powered service for hospitals that integrates with electronic medical record systems, allowing for one-click document generation from the medical record screen. The AI assists doctors and nurses in document creation and information extraction. Hospitals can choose between cloud-based and on-premise deployment options, depending on their security policies and operational requirements.
This update adds a function to automatically generate medical history summaries. First, the AI comprehensively analyzes each patient’s medical records, test results, prescription history, etc., to organize the long-term course of treatment. Next, the analysis results are organized according to the medical history summary format of J-OSLER (a system for registering and evaluating the training of resident physicians) operated by the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, and a draft medical history summary is generated that summarizes the course of treatment and important points while maintaining a consistent level of detail.

Healthcare professionals will have less work creating documents, only needing to review and edit the results generated by AI. Furthermore, the AI-generated patient history summaries can be used to organize information when creating other medical documents, such as discharge summaries and referral letters.
For healthcare professionals, creating discharge summaries and referral letters is a burden on their work. They have to go back and organize information from electronic medical records, which is time-consuming and laborious. Also, because the amount and level of detail in daily medical records varies from case to case, there tends to be inconsistency in the level of detail in summaries from healthcare professionals to healthcare professionals, (Opti Department). The new function will alleviate this workload.
Oda Hospital, operated by the Yuai Medical Corporation in Kashima City, Saga Prefecture, was the first to introduce this function and is using it in actual clinical practice. Dr. Yoshimasa Oda, director of Oda Hospital, commented, “It didn’t just streamline our work; it eliminated some tasks altogether. The medical document creation process, which previously took up a tremendous amount of time, has been drastically reduced, and our way of working has changed dramatically .”
