Information Development Co., Ltd. will begin offering “ID-AI Masky,” a tool for medical institutions that uses AI to automatically detect and mask personal information contained in medical images, starting in August 2026.
This tool uses a dedicated AI trained on medical-specific image patterns to automatically detect eyes and patient numbers in X-rays and facial photographs, and performs highly accurate masking. It operates in a completely offline, in-house environment and is designed not to store processing data, ensuring safe use without transmitting data externally.
Background of the provision
In recent years, with the acceleration of DX (Digital Transformation), the need for secondary use and analysis of medical information and medical image data in the medical field has increased. On the other hand, in medical settings, much of the anonymization (masking) work required from the perspective of protecting personal information still relies on manual processes. Operational challenges such as increased workload, variations in quality, and increased risk of information leakage are major obstacles to the utilization of medical data. In addition, the task of manually checking and processing images containing patient photos and personal information is often a psychological burden for those in charge.
