The Information-Technology Promotion Agency (IPA) released a tool that allows participants to practice a series of responses using a ransomware infection incident scenario. Two types are available: one for small and medium-sized enterprises and one for medical institutions. The tool consists of learning materials in “PowerPont” format and an implementation manual.
The ZIP file can be downloaded from the IPA website and used by unzipping it anywhere. The learning materials are based on a scenario created with reference to past ransomware damage cases, and consist of a lecture section in line with the IPA’s “Security Incident Response Guide for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises,” and an exercise section in which participants discuss in groups how to respond to ransomware infections and present their policies and methods.

The implementation manual includes explanations of the preparations for the tabletop exercise, how to manage it, how to proceed with post-incident work, and explanations for facilitators. The copyright belongs to the IPA, and it is not permitted to be used for commercial purposes. It is said that the learning materials can be customized based on the implementation manual.
