Panasonic Connect announced that it will begin offering two new solutions to promote digital transformation in logistics fields: “ZetesMedea,” a warehouse execution management system (WES) that promotes digitalization and labor-saving in warehouse operations, and “ZetesZeus,” which visualizes the progress of delivery operations.
Each solution is developed by Zetes, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company based in Belgium, and by fully offering them in Japan, the company hopes to contribute to reducing the time truck drivers spend waiting and loading and unloading cargo, which is a strong need in response to the “2024 problem.”
Zetes Media is linked to the core systems that client companies use on a daily basis. On-site managers can check the progress of tasks such as incoming inspection and picking in real time, and give instructions to staff as necessary. The advantage of using Zetes Media is that it can be used only in areas where there are problems with the work, eliminating the need for large-scale modifications to existing systems.
In the future, it will be possible to link with automated equipment such as AMRs (autonomous mobile robots), robot arms, and automated warehouses.
Zetes Zeus will link with ZeteSChronos, a delivery planning and operation management system that it has been providing since 2018, to calculate the extent to which drivers are forced to wait for cargo or are required to perform incidental tasks such as loading and unloading based on the time spent at each delivery destination by each company’s truck, delay rate, and trouble occurrence history. Based on the calculated data, it is expected that it will be possible to consider specific measures to reduce waiting time.
Takashi Ogasawara, director of the SCM Business Center, Field Supply Chain Headquarters, Panasonic Connect Field Solutions Company, who held a briefing at the company’s headquarters in Tokyo on the same day, expressed his intention to encourage 3PL businesses and warehouse businesses to use the new solution. He also expressed his intention to strengthen cooperation with Blue Yonder, a US company in the Panasonic Connect Group that handles supply chain efficiency software, and to strive to provide solutions that can meet the various needs of customers.
