ABEJA Inc., which aims to “implement a richer world” through collaboration between humans and AI, has partnered with Yamazaki Mazak Corporation to begin joint development toward the implementation of physical AI in manufacturing sites.
The two companies will utilize the “ABEJA Platform” to advance the implementation of physical AI, supporting Yamazaki Mazak’s customer companies in improving productivity and reducing costs, while also contributing to solving social issues in the manufacturing industry such as labor shortages and skills transfer.
ABEJA, guided by its management philosophy of “Implementing a prosperous world,” develops enterprise platform businesses centered on the ABEJA Platform, enabling customers to successfully implement AI in real-world operations and achieve continuous advancement. The ABEJA Platform enables AI to be implemented in real-world operations rather than just as a proof of concept (PoC), integrating decision-making by Agentic AI with execution by Physical AI to handle data, decision-making, and operations as a single unit, providing an implementation platform that supports the advancement of business operations in the real world. Furthermore, based on an architecture that assumes “Human in the Loop” collaboration between humans and AI, it enables the practical operation of AI from the initial stages, realizing “zero PoC.” This makes it possible to continuously advance even mission-critical operations by integrating AI into business processes.
Since its founding in 1919, Yamazaki Mazak has been developing and providing high-precision machine tools that support a wide range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, and precision equipment. It is one of the world’s leading global companies.
Through process consolidation using multi-tasking machines that perform multiple processes on a single unit, and the development of automated control systems that allow even workers without specialized knowledge to intuitively create advanced processing programs, we have lowered the difficulty of metal processing, which previously depended on individual skills and experience, and achieved the standardization and automation of manufacturing skills.

Currently, in the domestic manufacturing sector, the expansion of growth areas such as aerospace, semiconductors, and EVs is demanding greater productivity and flexibility in manufacturing sites. On the other hand, process design, production planning, and setup work still rely on the experience and skills of workers, making labor shortages and skill transfer major challenges. As a solution to these challenges, attention has been increasingly focused in recent years on “physical AI,” which uses AI to recognize and judge its surroundings and operate robots and equipment autonomously. In the machine tool industry as well, there is a need not only for optimizing processing steps, but also for systems that support judgments and tasks that currently rely on human intervention throughout the entire manufacturing process.
Against this backdrop, ABEJA has partnered with Yamazaki Mazak to accelerate the practical application of physical AI and begin joint development to realize autonomous manufacturing processes.
Through joint development, the two companies will expand their AI-powered solutions and further enhance existing products and services, thereby supporting Yamazaki Mazak’s customer companies in improving productivity and reducing costs at their manufacturing sites.
