Karteko has entered into a business partnership with GROOVE X to launch KarBo, a new initiative that combines GROOVE X’s family robot LOVOT with health data, AI, and sensing technologies. The initiative aims to create an environment where people can naturally support their health through everyday interactions, without requiring dedicated health-management activities.
KarBo combines Karteko’s personal health record (PHR) service KarteCo with LOVOT. Karteko plans to use health examination and medical data, AI-based analysis, and sensing technologies alongside LOVOT’s ability to build ongoing relationships and communication with people. The first application will focus on the eldercare sector.
The initiative addresses challenges associated with Japan’s aging population, including extending healthy life expectancy and responding to shortages of caregiving personnel. While continuous monitoring can help track changes in an individual’s health, maintaining regular use of health-management applications and measurement devices can be difficult. KarBo seeks to make health-related data collection part of natural daily interactions rather than requiring users to take additional actions specifically for health management.
Under the planned system, interactions with LOVOT would provide a natural point of contact for collecting daily health data through sensing technologies. With the individual’s consent, this information, together with health examination and medical data, would be stored in KarteCo. AI would then analyze the data and support subsequent actions by individuals, family members, or caregiving staff through LOVOT, smartphones, PCs, and other devices.
Under the planned system talking to LOVOT would be a way to gather daily health data using sensing technologies. With the persons permission this information along with health check results and medical records would be kept in KarteCo. Then AI would look at the data and help people their family members or those who take care of them make decisions through LOVOT, phones, computers and other devices.
The companies believe there is a lot of potential in eldercare, where there are more problems with not enough workers and the need to improve life for older people care for those with dementia and reduce the workload on caregivers. In home-care situations, where caregivers can’t always be nearby sensors and internet of things technologies are being looked at more and more for monitoring.. Using cameras and sensors, for monitoring can sometimes make people feel like they are being watched, which makes it hard to use these tools and keep using them.

The partnership is also expected to explore applications beyond eldercare. Karteko said it aims to expand KarBo into areas including healthcare, corporate health management, beauty, education and local government. The broader concept is to combine technologies that create human interaction, such as LOVOT, with PHR, AI and sensing capabilities to connect everyday activities with health support.
Karteko was established in December 2025. Develops PHR services, health DX initiatives and health-support platforms using AI and sensing technologies. GROOVE X, established in 2015 develops LOVOT, a family-oriented robot designed around interaction and attachment, with people.
The companies state that KarBo is not intended to provide medical treatment or diagnosis. Analysis of sensing data is conducted through KarteCo, and services involving camera-image analysis require the individual’s request and consent.
