NTT Group and NTT DATA Group Corporation have renewed their partnership with the NTT INDYCAR SERIES under a fresh multi-year agreement. But, it’s not really a typical ‘sponsor again’ situation. The way they describe it, this time they are pushing further into the day to day operational realm of the sport with AI, real-time analytics, and large scale data systems, all at once.
NTT DATA will keep on handling technology support for INDYCAR, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Indianapolis 500, and the NASCAR Brickyard weekend events. During race weekends, billions of live data points come out from cars, teams, race control systems, and even venue operations, so the setup has to stay responsive. That data is now being used for everything from race decisions and crowd movement to traffic planning and safety management.
The partnership is also expanding into fan engagement. INDYCAR recently added an AI-powered feature called ‘Up to Speed’ inside its mobile app to deliver live race insights and updates. Since the app relaunch in 2023, more than 700,000 new users have downloaded it, with usage growing more than 30% across over 100 countries.

The companies are also using AI and automated data collection to support emissions tracking and sustainability efforts tied to Penske Entertainment’s ‘Racing toward Zero’ initiative. With Indianapolis 500 attendance crossing 350,000 fans and recent races selling out, the whole setup is becoming less about basic event tech and more about managing a massive live operation in real time.
