Synology and Wasabi Technologies have announced a partnership focused on one thing most IT teams struggle with. Protecting company data without turning backup systems into a complicated mess.
The collaboration brings Wasabi Hot Cloud Storage directly into Synology’s ActiveProtect enterprise backup appliances. In simple terms, companies using Synology backup systems can now send their backup copies straight to Wasabi’s cloud storage without setting up extra tools or juggling different dashboards.
The integration shows up directly inside ActiveProtect Manager. IT teams can manage on premise backups and cloud copies from the same place. No separate console. No complicated configuration layers.

The timing makes sense. The volume of data keeps increasing while ransomware attacks continue without any signs of reduced activity. Companies face two main challenges which include stricter compliance requirements and the demands of maintaining data for extended periods. Because of that, backup systems today are expected to be reliable but also easy to run.
Organizations can use Wasabi as their cloud storage solution to create offsite backups, maintain permanent backups, and protect their data through unchangeable storage that prevents file modifications and deletions. The immutability layer protects backup data from ransomware attacks which attackers use to destroy it.
The partnership also supports modern backup practices such as the 3-2-1-1-0 approach. The idea is simple. Multiple copies of data, stored across different locations, with at least one protected from modification. For companies trying to modernize their backup strategy, the Synology and Wasabi combination is being positioned as a straightforward way to get there.
