IBM Japan has launched a new “Hospital Operations Support AI Solution” aimed at reducing the workload of medical professionals by automating non-clinical tasks such as medical documentation. Integrated with its existing Clinical Information System (CIS), the solution leverages generative AI and voice recognition technologies to create draft discharge summaries, with future updates planned to support summaries from voice recordings and nursing records.
The system securely integrates with CIS using HL7 FHIR standards. It also supports various AI platforms like IBM Watsonx, Azure OpenAI, and Amazon Bedrock. It can run in the cloud or on-premise. This setup meets strict data privacy needs in healthcare. The solution simplifies administrative tasks. This helps tackle big issues like labor shortages and strict rules. It also aims to cut down overtime due to Japan’s 2024 work reform for doctors.
