According to the company, Kyoto is home to many highly skilled semiconductor device, material, and equipment manufacturers, as well as universities, and the opening of the new office will be a catalyst for proactively promoting new collaborations and open innovation. The company’s MES has its roots in an in-house solution used on the cutting-edge manufacturing line at IBM’s Yasu factory in Shiga Prefecture in the 1980s, and has been expanding globally since 1998. The MES is still widely used around the world today as an MES for managing and controlling the manufacturing process of mission-critical semiconductors.
