SmartDrive Inc., a company that provides services utilizing mobility data, will begin offering an “AI Driver Identification” function as a new feature of its cloud-based vehicle management system “SmartDrive Fleet.” The function uses AI to identify the driver’s face and enables recording and analysis of each driver.
This function is realized by linking with an AI-equipped drive recorder manufactured by JVC Kenwood Corporation, and automatically identifies the driver, making it possible to more reliably record “who was driving which vehicle, when.” This is expected to improve the accuracy of daily driving reports, promote safe driving, and strengthen internal compliance.
Main features of the “AI Driver Identification” function
Automatically identify drivers using AI facial recognition
AI automatically identifies faces when drivers get in and out of the vehicle, eliminating the need for drivers to record their own actions.

Significantly reduces the workload of daily driving reports
Automatic recording prevents errors and omissions, reduces the effort required for creating daily reports, and contributes to the efficiency of management work.
Automatic calculation of each driver’s driving history and score
Because individual driving data is accumulated, evaluation and guidance will become easier, and this is expected to raise awareness of safe driving.
Thorough internal compliance and legal compliance
This will clearly record who was driving, strengthening evidence management in accident responses and labor management.
