IBM announced a new Microsoft Practice within IBM Consulting. This unit aims to boost the collaboration between IBM and Microsoft. This initiative seeks to provide better, measurable results for clients facing tough changes in AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
The new Microsoft Practice combines Microsoft’s technologies—like Copilot, Azure OpenAI Service, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, and Microsoft Sentinel—with IBM’s strong industry know-how and consulting skills. This builds on a long-standing partnership. We aim to help enterprise clients grow faster, cut costs, and gain a lasting edge in the market.
“At IBM Consulting, we focus on delivering real business results for our clients,” said Mohamad Ali, Senior Vice President and Head of IBM Consulting. “We are proud to collaborate within an ecosystem of global innovators. The creation of our Microsoft Practice is a major step. It helps us deliver great results, and we are excited about the future.”

The practice connects more than 33,000 Microsoft-certified experts worldwide at IBM Consulting. It delivers value through:
- Accelerated innovation via deep expertise in cloud, AI, data, and security
- IBM-Microsoft Experience Zones within IBM Client Innovation Centers, with implementation support across major markets
- A comprehensive transformation support system spanning strategy, execution, and operations
- Robust enterprise-grade security and compliance, backed by the proven capabilities of both companies
The key to this practice is combining IBM Consulting Advantage, IBM’s AI-driven delivery platform, with Microsoft’s technology. Tools like Copilot help clients use custom AI solutions. They also ensure strong governance and security.
Nicole Dezen, Chief Partner Officer at Microsoft, said, “IBM’s Microsoft Practice launch is a big step in our mission to empower clients with cloud and AI technologies.” This collaboration uses the strengths of both organizations. It delivers innovative and scalable solutions that lead to transformative business outcomes.”
Delivering Industry-Specific Innovation
The Microsoft Practice will create tailored solutions for various industries. These include retail, consumer goods, government, financial services, and supply chain. Notable examples are IBM Copilot Runway and IBM Consulting Azure OpenAI Services. They help clients use generative AI. This fuels growth, boosts efficiency, and drives innovation in specific sectors.
Frank Sweeney, Chief Information Officer for Arizona’s Department of Child Safety, said, “IBM Consulting has been key in our digital transformation. Thanks to their support, we used Microsoft’s generative AI technologies. This has helped us boost caseworker efficiency. Now, we can focus more on our mission: supporting children and families.”
So far, IBM has finished more than 14,000 Microsoft projects around the world. This includes their work with Arizona’s Department of Child Safety. Also, over 30 IBM software products are now on Microsoft Azure. This offers clients flexible options for using automation and AI solutions that suit their needs.
