SailPoint Machine Identity Security
According to SailPoint’s “Identity Security Research Report 2024-2025 ,” the growth of machine identities could surpass the growth of human identities in the next five years. In response to this background, SailPoint released “Machine Identity Security” in October 2024.
SailPoint today announced AI Machine Identity Discovery for Machine Identity Security, a new capability that aims to fundamentally change how machine accounts are identified. AI Machine Identity Discovery automatically scans key applications to identify accounts with machine identity characteristics and provides ongoing visibility and insights into newly discovered machine accounts, enabling organizations to proactively address security risks posed by unseen machine accounts. AI Machine Identity Discovery will be generally available on April 18.
In addition, the Machine Account Migration feature, which enhances Machine Identity Security detection, simplifies the process of smoothly migrating machine accounts from contingent worker risk management to properly governed Machine Identity Security. Machine Account Migration is generally available now.
Data Access Security
SailPoint’s Data Access Security provides a comprehensive identity security solution for both applications and the sensitive data stored within them. As the amount of data that organizations need to manage and protect continues to grow exponentially, SailPoint continues to invest in the Data Access Security space. New features include:
Automated Data Ownership Election: This new feature enables organizations to automatically identify and assign suitable data owner candidates to data assets and business resources within their organizations based on usage patterns and crowdsourced access rights review campaigns, saving time and burden for small security and IT teams. Automated Data Ownership Election will be generally available on April 15, 2025.
New Activity Monitoring for Network-Attached Storage (NAS): We have expanded activity monitoring to some of our most popular NAS products, including Dell EMC Isilon (Powerscale), Dell EMC Unity and NetApp, and this is now generally available.
New Data Access Security Insights in Access Intelligence Center: Data Access Security customers can now access cross-sectional data intelligence and insights about risk within SailPoint’s Access Intelligence Center, which is generally available now.
AI Application Onboarding
SailPoint’s AI-powered application onboarding capabilities automate and streamline the SaaS application onboarding process, enabling you to discover, manage, and secure applications across environments, dramatically accelerating time to value. The latest update further enhances seamless application discovery by adding support for Microsoft Entra ID and PingOne. You can now customize default application discovery thresholds and receive more AI-driven recommendations for greater flexibility and control. These AI application onboarding capabilities are already available in tenant environments.
Connectivity
SailPoint has expanded its reach to the comprehensive SAP ecosystem with a new direct integration with SAP Cloud Identity Access Governance (IAG). The integration enables enterprises to proactively perform segregation of duties checks and provision access rights to connected SAP applications, further enhancing user access management and compliance. Customers can now leverage SailPoint as the hub for access requests across their SAP landscape, streamlining access provisioning and segregation of duties analysis for SAP systems, including SAP IAG, within the access request process for improved governance. These enhancements support customers’ overall identity security strategy by helping to accelerate time to value, improve operational efficiency, and ensure flexibility. The SAP IAG integration is already available as part of the existing Core and Advanced SAP integration bundles.
